7883 I get that, I sold my 06 years ago because I saw the money pit potential and I really needed to be rid of my student loans. My 15 is paid off this June, so then it is time to decide if I am doing more to it or leaving it alone.

7884, After all you've learned and experienced, what more would you possibly do? I'm genuinely curious, because my outlook has changed from when I first got my car a decade ago.

7885: Well guys my little girl made her big debut Jan 9th 11:32am Raven Lynn Taranto.

7889 - Congrats! And enjoy. Kids are awesome.

@Alin - Honestly...I'll just see where the car takes me. Each item that starts to rattle, wear, or fail will become a reason to learn everything I can about it and replace it with something better if possible. I use to have big plans which would never become reality mainly because of funds. Rather than pipe dream I am going to try to learn about each area of the car that I can as I replace things. I am hopeful that this helps me make a car that is better than what rolled off the factory line with the same or better reliability. Car manufacturers are bound by budgets so you can always improve on their products.

7890 - How's everybody doing? I'm still super busy with the kids and work has been absolutely insane, so I've merely been lurking here for at least the last 6 months. I hope to get restarted on the Batmobile build this spring. Still have a lot to do around the house and in the garage, to prepare the workspace properly before I start unpacking all the parts and tools so as not to misplace key components.

Here at work, our hatchet-man of a CEO smiled grimly at the beginning of this scamdemic and used the misfortune to absolutely gut us. The whole company was downsized in horrific fashion, with my immediate work group losing 50% of our workforce. Honestly, I'm just thankful to still have a job. Anyways...I still try to pop in here a few times a week, but I can't imagine being able to check back in a few times a day like I used to. Regardless, if anyone needs anything be sure to tag me in a post or send a message and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.

I hope everyone is doing well, and that you haven't been too impacted by the fuckery of 2020 that never seems to end.

7891 - Glad to hear you kept your job. My wife and I have been fortunate with our jobs as well. Financially 2020 didn't really hurt us but it's all been a shit show since October 2019 for my family. Between my sister getting killed, Covid, and some truly stupid conversations with family about any number of hot topics, I am ready for this summer. I have not decided if I am going to work on the car at all or just keep saving my pennies for something big down the road. I am hopeful that Boxerfest does return this September so I can get the word out and pass out more IGOTASTI cards.

Hope everyone is doing well.

7892 - I wanted to share some words of wisdom with you guys. First off, a short tidbit of background. As many of you know, I work in EMC (ElectroMagnetic Compatibility) testing on automotive electronics such as gauge clusters, super capacitors, DC-DC converters, etc. EMC and--to a lesser extent--Electrical testing is often jokingly referred to as "Black Magic" within the industry. While there are very controlled environments and procedures for said testing, often times the problems that arise are simply outside the realm of logic. I should know this more than most, based on my experience with EMC and my background as a maintenance technician for complex electronic equipment in the Navy, and I've seen more than my fair share of things that simply will never make sense.

Anyways...to keep an already long story short, the last few days of troubleshooting have reminded me to CHECK. EVERY. BOX. When you are having a problem in troubleshooting and are logically moving through all the applicable steps, be sure to check things that have little basis in logic. Especially when someone else tells you, "that could not possibly be the cause." That's not to say that a process should not be followed, but rather do not discount the improbable. If I had ignored logic--and my superiors' directions--I'd have reduced my troubleshooting time on this issue by +90%. CHECK. EVERY. BOX. no matter how crazy they may seem. If you can check/modify/replace/etc. a component within a malfunctioning system, DO IT and do it NOW. Especially when it comes to electrical/electronic devices, things happen that do not make sense. Remind yourself that Chapter 3 of the technical manual is called *THEORY* OF OPERATION for a reason; NOT *LAW* of operation.

Do not allow yourself to be forced into a specific mental pipeline. You will do nothing more than waste time and raise your blood pressure.

/ End of Rant /

Have a great day, everyone!

7895 - Yeah, of late I just monitor the site but have not been posting. It would be nice to see an influx of new activity but for the most part I think people join here as a learning resource and the occasional urgent question. I'd like to grow the review section so that people think to come here and write reviews for all sorts of equipment, shops, etc. If people want to speculate or measure dicks they already have 2 other sites for that crap. While it is nice to stay small I would love to see more engagement from all the new members. I think that will be my claim to fame moving forward in the introduction forum:

"Hi, welcome to the forum! Go write some reviews! Thanks."

:ROFLMAO:

7897 - For sure man. That would be great.

Speaking of activity... Over the next few weekends, I'm going to get working on the garage and preparing my workspace. Then I should be able to restart the work on the Batmobile. So hopefully I'll have a some regular updates to post and maybe that'll help increase traffic again.

7898 - that sounds great. I pulled the trigger on the Cygnus X1 coilovers so I will be posting a good bit when those come in. I'll probably document a little of the process and definitely will review them. I am trying to decide if I want to go to my buddy's Dad's garage to use his nice lift or slum it in my garage. It always feels more authentic and on brand for me to have jack stands under the car and very little room to work. However, I do have one of my kartboy shifter bushings to install which would probably be nice to have some actual clearance to do haha.
