Welcome, what are the future plans for the car? Why did you choose to do the mods you have so far? Did you get the car tuned following the mods (specifically the intake)?

I have not got a tune yet. Just added my cobb short shifter. I want to get a downpipe and cob access port too. As far as why I chose these mods first, I was looking for HP and chose these bolt ons.

Anytime you change how air or fuel is flowing on a turbo car you should be getting a tune. On an NA car you can get away with throwing on a CAI and other bolt ons and see some gains with no ill effects. The intake and BPV on these cars is really solid from the factory and are typically only changed because someone likes to hear the turbo more. Without a tune the AEM intake and BPV will cause more harm than good. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, just don't want to see you damage the car. An Accessport would be the first thing I would get in your shoes so that you can monitor the effects of any changes you have made to the car. If you wish to continue running the intake and install a new DP I would book a pro tune asap. If you intend to take advantage of the full potential of both of those mods you will be maxing out the fuel system. A pro tuner will be able to work with your stock fueling. Any further upgrades will require fueling upgrades.

If you are after the cheapest/easiest HP gains then you will want to look into a DP and tune first. Since you already have the intake, you can utilize it for marginal gains, but until you get it tuned I would personally return the intake to stock if possible.

Unlike some other forums, no one here is going to blow smoke up your butt or make claims without the experience to back it up. I have been a member here for 10 years and have gone through a large scale power build on an 06 STi, DIY tuning on an 05 LGT, and am stepping into modding again with my 15 STi. Several other members here may chime in with their own experience but I expect it will echo much of what I said above. If you have any questions, are looking for specific parts, etc. Feel free to post in the appropriate section or start your own car journal and post there. I would encourage you to also consider writing reviews in the review section of any parts you have used (ease of install, quality of components, results, etc).

Enjoy the forum!

Thanks for the advice. I will be looking into an access port very soon. Also I will go speak with the local tuner. Here where I am in east TN we don't have but one place for getting a tune. Im not taking it the wrong way. This is my first turbo car, so I'm listening lol.

Depending on the quality/vibe you get from that one tuning shop, don't be afraid to speak to some places that do e-tuning as well (if you are comfortable with that). It is typically a little cheaper but you can get very good results especially when the car is not heavily modded.

So the local shop only had a 2wd dynamic. Looks like I'm heading to Knoxville soon.

My tune date is April 29th. Guess I'll drive the Z71 a little more til then. Thanks for the advice.

Welcome to IGOTASTI!!! You're going to absolutely love it here!! Post some pictures of the ride!

What other cars have you had in the past? How does the STi compare to them? Is there anything that you don't like about the STi? What do you love about it?

Were you contemplating on any other cars before you purchased your STi? If so, why did you ultimately decide on the STi over the other cars?

The only other thing I can add in the meantime, that hasn't been mentioned, is to learn as much as you can. Whether that constitutes as learning from others' mistakes, or just researching every aspect of this platform, it's 100% free and extremely beneficial for you and your car's future. We're here to help you succeed on your journey delving into this platform.

I'm not sure how to share pics on here, honestly.

My Instagram is dbowmaneod if you want to check it out.

I've got a couple of pictures on there.

Based on your mod list, you only state the car has a catback exhaust, meaning the downpipe is stock. Is this correct?

Stage 2 is meant for an aftermarket downpipe, so there are some clashes that arise if you do indeed still have the stock downpipe.

I looked on Cobb's website and they don't have a tune for the AEM intake for the VA STi's. What I strongly recommend at the moment is that you either revert back to the stock tune, or flash the Stage 1 tune. In an ideal world, you would have the stock intake right now that you can install back onto your car for the Stage 1 tune.

Either route, I suggest you don't enter boost while driving the car until you are protuned.

I do have my stock intake. I have all of my stock parts. I also put it in stage one 93 OTS tune. The car has been running great and very responsive in stage 2. Since putting it in stage 1 I've kept my foot out of it. Thank you all for the help and suggestions.
