GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

I had a great time at Boxerfest last weekend and getting to meet and play with some of the SubieGirls! So, I updated the parts list with the return to the ACT clutch/flywheel after the Competition Clutch gave up the ghost during the DC ProSolo the weekend before Boxerfest. Now, after having...

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

So, it looks like the following will be going on the car in the next month : KillerB oil pickup Perrin equal length headers TGV delete TiC lateral link bushings Whiteline front control arm, front bushings The guy I'd been talking to about doing a wingless trunk swap has evidently flaked. So...

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

Several more bushings installed (TiC front/rear trailing arms), and a set of blingy carbon fiber hood dampers... next up, headers, an intake manifold and retuning to go with (end of February). I might have a line on a CGM wingless trunk too. We'll see. :)

    MZWRX's 2006 WRX TR

The stock endlinks will start making awful noises anyway, so you may as well do aftermarket endlinks at the same time as the bars (I have Kartboy endlinks on mine, even on my stock front bar).

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

Got the TiC/MSI collaboration bushings installed the other week. I did a sort of review, including the results of the autocross I did last weekend, here : http://camarowrx.blogspot.com/2011/10/review-turn-in-conceptsmsi.html. I might try to hit another autocross next weekend to further test...

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

New TurnInConcepts bushings -- I'll be testing a set of their collaboration control arm bushings (TiC/MSI rearward front control arm bushings) this weekend. I just got this set of the rear trailing arm bushings too. Looks like I might have to do at least a few events this fall!

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

Took the car up to IAG for a new gauge cluster today. Had the Stri DSD 52mm oil pressure, boost and EGT gauges installed. As for "other pics" from Nationals, I got a few from Perry Bennett. Trying to decide what else to do to the car over the winter to keep up with the American pony cars...

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

Well, I got to go to Lincoln despite what I thought. http://camarowrx.blogspot.com/2011/09/you-always-remember.html No video, due to double fale on my part, but hopefully more pictures as they become available. :)

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

Finally did Part IV (http://camarowrx.blogspot.com/2011/08/add-dash-of-salt.html) last night. Now, to work on the NEDivs and last weekend's local nastiness (it rained right before my second run... so we all stood on our first runs, which meant my slow clean run was only good for second, and my...

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

So, I've been working on a writeup of the epic road trip to and from Packwood. I've got parts 1-3 done, and will be working on part 4 (the conclusion) either tonight or tomorrow. Maybe I'll do a quick NEDivs one afterwards. :) Part I : http://camarowrx.blogspot.com/2011/08/road-trip.html Part...

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

Having driven ~85mph with a rental car on the salt, I have no desire to drive my own personal car very fast with no safety equipment around, and also no means to easily and quickly wash the salt out of all the fender wells and other crevices. As it was, the salt was really moist this time, and I...

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

The last two weeks have seen a good 7000 miles get added to the odometer. It started two weeks ago when I left Baltimore for the Packwood Prosolo, in Washington. I went hiking at Mount St. Helens first. Packwood's site was an old lumbar mill that has since seen the operations move five miles...

    2011 Toledo National Tour 7/2-3

Anyone going? I'll be there. I signed up in my green Camaro, but I'm not committed to even driving ESP at this event, much less the Camaro or even the WRX. If I was going to make it to the National Championships, I'd probably be more committed to ESP because I could try for a Triad award...

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

The WRX went to the OC meet this weekend without me. I'm not much of a beach person, but it wanted to go, so I figured IAG would make a good chaperone. ;)

GD Karen's 2006 WRX prepped for SCCA ESP

I broke out the purple wheels again this past weekend for the NJ ProSolo. I'll mess around with a write up later (maybe tonight if I have energy before my hockey game or maybe tomorrow afternoon), but the short story is that Sam Krauss can drive, I can't, and I really, really hate cold tires...

    2011 New Jersey ProSolo

Anyone else going? I've acquired a codriver, and hopefully he won't beat me too badly. :)

Autocross Video from SCCA National Tour

I like the gearing in the WRX more. Once I actually got "permission" to launch the STi like I should (I'm not a fan of 5000rpm launches in someone else's car, especially if it seems they aren't launching it that hard), I was on the rev limiter before the first major element. With any familiarity...

Autocross Video from SCCA National Tour

I went to Atlanta last weekend for the National Tour event, and drove an STU-prepped STi owned by local driver James Whittaker. He's got it pretty well sorted out for STU, but it still took me a few runs to re-acclimate myself with street tires, even sticky ones like the StarSpecs...
