how many Photographers do we have in here? anyone that actually knows what they are doing. i have a Canon T3 body with their stock lens still and i want to upgrade to a better lens. i am not sure what to look for but i feel like i always have to stand farther back than i want to to get the whole background i want in the picture but then the car is too small (of whatever object I'm taking a picture of) i assume i need some sort of wide angle lens. i know how to work the settings and adjust lighting and aperture and all that but i don't know much about the lenses themselves. i also don't need anything crazy high end as this is more of a hobby than becoming a profession. thanks guys!

May I suggest the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8. I have it and absolutely love it, takes some getting used manually focusing tho.

I'm a photographer, but never had the $$$$ to blow on L (red band) canon lenses. Stock lens can go a long way as long you know how to adjust the settings. Depending on your budget though, ideally you want full frame wide angel lens if your camera supports it(im behind on the new camera bodys specs)

The question is, do you want some zoom ability or can you live with a fixed mm lens. Another side note is, are most of your pics during daylight or night with low light.

Just a quick article I found that may be of use to you http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Canon-Lenses/Canon-Wide-Angle-Lens.aspx

For me personally, I've been wanting this one http://smile.amazon.com/Canon-16-35mm-2-8L-Zoom-Cameras/dp/B000NP46K2/
Short zoom though but good for wide shots

Alternatively, this has better zoom, be nice to have both depending what your shooting. I personally worked with this lens and loved it.

Going to sleep now, wish I can write more but throw out some info here and hopefully I can narrow down some good answers for ya

that was actually really helpful thanks man. i typically shoot in the daytime into early evening but not so much at night in low light. i have lens' that can zoom so right now im looking for wide angle. the problem im having is every time i want to tak a pic of my car or watever, in order to get the background in the shot i have to stand very far back and the car looks smaller than i want it to. especially for rolling shots (love those) ill take a look at those links today and let you know if i have anymore questions
