I figure we can all learn from this question.

What is the difference between a stock, stage one, stage two, and stage three clutch?

Asking primarily for a friend but figured it would be a good topic and a learning curve for us noobs.

The "Stage" designation is totally dependent on the manufacturer itself. So a stage 2 clutch from one manufacturer is not the same as a stage 2 clutch from another. You can actually tell the better clutches from the mid range and low range clutches by the fact that they don't advertise their clutch in stages but in fcat advertise the rated clamping force or recommended torque and power input.

Regardless a stage one is usually a clutch with stock or greater clamping force and generally is a full face organic or ceramic sprung disk.

A stage 2 is generally greater than stock clamping force and is usually a full face slotted, organic or ceramic sprung disk.

A stage 3 is generally greater than stock clamping force and is usually 6 puck sprung disk and the material can be anything from ceramic to metallic.

Stage 4 can be anything from the above including unsprung and Kevlar.
