yea it works. ive helped someone do it.

If it is just the gauge cluster then yes, will swap straight from year to year (no idea of the years will cross work, I.E. 2005 STI cluster into a 2009 WRX). All of the sensor connections are the same and have seen this done before, although never done it my self so no idea on how much work it would take. The immobilizer is based off the ignition and immobilizer module which is linked to the ecu. So long as you avoid those 3 things you will be fine.
