2.5RS Swap

Alright, guys, so I?ve always wanted to post a build thread somewhere, but never seemed to be able to have the time to do it. But now that it?s literally back down to a shell for paint, this is probably a good time to do that. So, here she is, naked...

Once I had the motor out, I forgot I had plowed my car into a wall about 5 years ago and crumpled a bit of the frame. Don?t worry, it was in front of the struts and didn?t affect the alignment on her. I?m still learning metal shaping and welding, so the BF helped me out with that.

Then I rolled her out for a little wash.

And then the fun began.....stripping and sanding it down to bare metal.

Living in VT sucks, so we had to prime what we could asap before any rust started.

I decided to get rid of the body moldings, so some tedious plugging of holes;) had to happen.

And that?s how she sits until Inget back from my trip. New updates when I get back after the 8th!.

Well it?s definitely way passthe 8th. So let?s see, since I?ve been back, I painted the intake manifold wrinkle black and replaced the injector o-rings. I ended up getting a Borla exhaust manifold, so I painted that up with my Cobb up pipe. Hopefully I?ll be getting that wrapped later today. BUT, we did get the engine bay all painted this morning and hopefully I?ll get started on redoing my headliner in black suede.

I also just picked up a lower mileage motor, same as before, EJ20. I was able to snag a set of aluminum control arms too.

Enjoying the description and pictures thus far, interested to see the progression. Good luck!

I just went up to Canada and picked up basically the same motor that was in it before. My old motor had over 150,000 miles in it. It was still in great condition, near perfect compression readings. So I figured I should sell it while it was still good so I can get a lower mileage one. Picked up an AVCS EJ20 with 50k on it for what I sold my old one for.
