Different tachometer face plate or color?

What are everyone's thoughts regarding different colored or different face plated tachometers? I remember seeing someone on IWSTI create a custom yellow tachometer face plate a few years ago that looked similar to how some Ferrari's looked. I spent all day yesterday trying to find the picture, but didn't manage to find it... However, it wasn't all doom and gloom as I stumbled upon this! Literally posted 2 days ago, so what're the odds, right?

I think it looks great from behind a computer screen, however, my mind could change seeing it live in person. It's truly hard to tell, but I do think it looks bad ass.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay? Is it considered ricer shit?

I'm not a big fan personally, but I get why people would like it. I don't think it is ricer, I just prefer black or white gauges.

I like it. But I think most/many of the backlighting LEDs in the cluster are red-orange. If that's true, it's not going to look gold like you want it.

I don't think it's ricey if done right, but most gauge cluster overlays I've seen have been sorely inaccurate on the size, shape and placement of the numbers and tick marks. THAT will make it look ricey. Also, it should be a plastic-like material and not paper-like. I've seen paper ones look bad after sitting in a hot and humid vehicle.

Not for me. Could be tasteful, but would probably need/want to swap out a lot of the orange LEDs for red to make it a complete transformation.

Here is one done on a Miata and how I envision it to look the best:

I was looking through some old pictures on Nasioc and came across this from 2013:

Apparently, the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo comes with a different colored tachometer.

Also, I gotta say it before someone does it. Don't attempt to swap out the LEDs yourself. I work with gauge clusters on the regular and I wouldn't even feel safe doing it myself at home. If you work in a lab with the right equipment, then maaaybe. But even then, you could do irrepairable damage to the PCB and then you have a real problem on your hands. Modern gauge cluster PCBs are multilayer, with incredible circuit and component density. This makes them really hard to work on, even for trained personnel.
