What is this part?

I need to identify this part.

It is on the driver side of the vehicle, front of the engine, near the exhaust.

Pretty sure it?s leaking oil, so that?s why I need to figure out what it is.

Hah! Finally found it on an engine diagram!

It?s a ?Holder Assembly Oil Control valve?.

Apparently it has something to do with the camshaft.

Does anyone have any experience with these leaking?

Do I just replace the gasket, or both the gasket and the assembly?

No experience with the part. I'd try gasket first, as the part looks to be <$100. What's it, uh, do?

It's hard to tell in the photo where the leak is coming from, but right in the middle of your photo is the driver's side AVCS (active valve control system) variable cam timing solenoid and oil control network. I would imagine that you can (VERY CAREFULLY) unscrew the banjo bolt (not 100% sure, your's looks different than mine since I have an '04) and get to the seal. It's probably a thin copper crush washer. You can get more of those, or you can take it out, clean it up, as well as both of the other surfaces, and put it all back together. If you're brave/careful enough, you can lay a verrrrry tiny bead of permatex black (hydrocarbon resistant) gasket maker around the outside seam and smooth it in before you torque it back down. ***Double check this*** but I 'think' the torque spec is 7.5 ft-lbs.
