Silver Bullet 2004 WRX STI

Agreed.

The design of the rails can help as well. I?ve read that some companies transition from round to an ellipse to help smooth out the pulses. As I said in my last reply, I don?t see this being an issue unless you are making really big power. Even then it may depend on the specs of the FPR you are running.

will be running an "Aeromotive 13139 NEW A1000 Regulator Adjustable EFI (2)-8" with step downs to -6 an. fuel line is gonna be 3/8 ptfe so I can run e-85 down the road, and for now stock top feed rails with an fittings converting them from hard line to "Polytetrafluoroethylene" PTFE steel braid and nylon braid. will have. y running to both rails that then both feed back into the a1000 FPR. FPR should be good up to 500 LPH. As for the fuel dampeners I still need to research how to test said dampener, and if it has a restriction after x amount of pressure... I.E. Stock fuel dampness tend to be a bottle neck at 98 lbs of fuel pressure. "Mind you this is only a random number to explain thought."

I live in Cali so I have to make it appear that it is still stock its because yea California... As far as how much power I plan to put down no idea but I know its capable of more that 400 as it sits...

That sounds like it should work. It won?t be anything catastrophic if there are some pulsing issues. They will show up in dyno tuning, so it can be addressed at that point if needed. Keep us posted. When do you think this will be together?

just got off phone about an hour ago for new piston, rings, and wrist pin. Still need to order head gaskets, new t-belt, and misc seals.

after everything is back will also need to layout and assemble new fuel deliver system and put all back in car.

Assuming heads are done today, and I get my new piston before the weekend, and all other items order perhaps sometime this week, maybe next week. However, do have a Vegas trip coming up because my daughter decided to be an awesome 7 year old and make it to JAMZ cheer and dance nationals this year for 8u age group. Go Mustangs.... so next weekend is shot for working on this. Also need to get ahold of HolyCrapItsFast for tune and possibility ask him to build me a fancy gauge pod to replace triple pod one. Know what I want just don't have time to learn how to build it atm.... but thats another story.... I am hoping by early feb she will be back to normal.

Got heads back from machine shop on Sunday and been doing little bit every day crept commuting a cardinal sin for igotansti.com that?s lack of pictures this time around.
Heads came back in good shape no bent valves or damage to the head. I think the machine shops words were the carbon on the valves saved them.

For reference original damage to head looked like this.

Came back looking like this.

Got long block exhaust and turbo ready to drop in tomorrow night.

While I was going through all this i did manage to get the fuel lines roughly setup for new fuel pressure regulator as well.

Nothing fancy until I get it in the car.

Thanks for the updates!

I haven't ripped into many engines, and not for a LONG time--is that much carbon on the valves normal and/or bad? If bad, how does one prevent it?

Also, why are the fresh valves different colors for inlet/exhaust? Is that just permanent staining on the exhaust, are they actually a different material, or some sort of coating?

Tomorrow, before I get on the plane to Vegas will gray and get starter, clutch slave cylinder, and down pipe in. When I get back last few emission hoses I ordered should be here. Then top off fluids flash eco with correct tune for ECU/injectors and MAF. Oh yea also need to dial in FPR to 43psi at idle.

Getting there hopefully she will be back running correctly Tuesday/ Wednesday next week.

HolyCrapItsFast any chance you have some time in near future to help dial tune in with new additions?
