I got an itch this past Friday and decided to take the car to the drag strip after a full day on the road course with my S2000... I guess I needed some torque in my life.
I'm reminded why I don't drag race... I suck at it. Even as the car sat, I should have gotten it into the 7's in the 1/8th mile, but meh. I was and still am on my break-in tune, which consisted of me turning the boost down to 18 PSI (from 23) and using the AP to remove 3 degrees of timing, globally. I also found on my most recent map, I hadn't changed the throttle to keep it from closing as I neared redline. Coming from the DBC and soft clutch S2000, I had a difficult time banging gears and coming back onto the throttle in the STi, which resulted in no boost coming into the next gear.
With about 1,200 miles on the new motor as of yesterday, I changed over from Rotella T to Motul 300v (5w40). I've got several track and AutoX events lined up with my S2000, so I am hoping to be able to get some time to go through the car (boost leak test and such), and turn up the power and take it back.
Anyway... I brought my GoPro, but didn't think my times were worth setting it up. However, a buddy I ended up running against had a camera in his C5 Z06 and his friends also took video from the stands. It was a fairly warm and very humid night. This run is one of my worst times of the night, with my best being an 8.0 @ 88mph.
