DIY Brake Pad Replacement (VIDEO)

Thank you for posting this. This is an informative, and comforting, video for a noob like me. This leads me to believe I could actually do this myself! Question: when just replacing the pads, do you have to bleed the brakes?

I have never had to bleed the brake fluid to change the pads. Just remove the fluid reservoir cap. When you do get around to compressing the pistons, it's a good idea to have someone watch the open reservoir to make sure it doesn't overflow. I personally have never had it overflow and always have done the work by myself.

Rotors are a different beast.

1) You have to remove the calipers entirely
1.1) Caliper bolts may/will be seized. Potentially HUGE Pita.
2) Rears have a drum assembly inside. I hate drum brakes, I always mess 'em up.
