Who gives an STi to a 17 teen year old? To bad he killed all his friends.

I can speculate that a lot of speed and the ample amount of factory understeer coupled with immaturity and skill lead to this horrible result.

A horrible tragedy on so many levels.

I have typed and retyped and can't say anything that hasn't already been said. All I can keep thinking of is the young man having to deal with the deaths of his friends and having to bear this burden for the rest of his life. The parents of this young man having to deal with a potentially bad decision on their part which may have contributed to this unfortunate scenario. The parents of the dead individuals having to come to grips that there children will never grace their presence again.

This reminds me of the young man 3 years ago, Christmas Eve, that was barreling down a local interstate in his Hummer H2 during a snowstorm. He supposedly looked away to attend to his dog and hit a car head on killing the occupants of that car. Just recently he was sentenced to 20 years prison for this. Age, ignorance and overconfidence was a most likely a deciding factor.

I can certainly attest that I have made some seriously stupid decisions in my life. I am very fortunate that those decisions did not result in anything of this magnitude and have walked away from all with a better understanding of life's casino. You may beat the house in the short term but the house eventually wins.

I do not condone his actions or even the actions of his parents. I can say that a little immaturity and a lot of testosterone and results like this are waiting.

For what it's worth. I wish all the best during this time of tragedy.

I wish you all the best and please be safe.

Vermont put it best. Kids simply don't think like adults. You can't treat them like adults cause they just don't reason that way. We were all that age and if we all think of it we were all that ignorant, in one fashion or another.
Think of it! We were all a damn mess of hormones and craziness. It's a wonder half of us even make it to see 25.

This is why it's important that parents need to be the responsible party and teach the kids. Stop fucking around with the friendship, cool parent buddy crap. Be a damn parent.
I hated my parents because they were just that, parents. They beat it into me, figuratively and literaly. I definitely appreciate them doing so, especially now.
Parents first, friends last.

no age dosent magically make you smarter, or more capable of driving such a car, but being as he was under age it Is the parents responsibility to make sure he didnt act like a jackass. had he been 18 and bought the car himself, then the wreck would have been solely on him. but being he WAS underage, and WITHOUT a license, and was handed a racecar... alot of the blame does fall on the parents. people can disagree all they want... its my opinion and im sticking by it. As a parent you are responsible for your child from the moment they are conceived until the day they turn age and move out, in that time period you should properly educate them in every aspect of life, whether that be driving, dating, manners, work ethic, etc. everything they do falls back on you until they are able to accept legal responsibility for their actions.

I sold car's for about 2 years at a subaru dealer out in CO, I had plenty of customers come in and want to buy there snotty son a WRX or STi as their first car with learners permit. I told the parents that I had to much of a moral conscious to sell a sports car to them. They would never believe that the car was as fast as it was because they drove a AMG55 or bmw535xi or some luxory high hp vehicle. I would proceed to take them for a test drive and scare the crap out of them in one. Not sure how many I got to turn away from buying for there kid but I'm sure it worked for atleast a few.

I agree that this is a terrible and tragic event. However, these are not bad parents because they decided to buy there kid a 2012 Sti. I do not agree with letting their child who was not a licensed driver drive this car without adult supervision. I am currently a 19 year old second year college student who drives a 517 whp STi does this make my parents bad? No, it does not. When I was in high school I drove a modified 2002 bugeye with a hybrid set-up and a 16g at 20 psi including a 2007 STi tranny swap I totaled that car because a lady pulled out in front. That wasn't my parents fault for buying me that car. It's not the parents fault for buying Beer the STi it wasn't to much of a car if you can't handle a stock STi there is a huge problem. It's there fault for letting him drive it illegally.

Sadly they were some of my friends , they were real stupid for this .. all of them snuck out the house to go for a "joy" ride and smoke weed n drink . bad idea they were very stupid for this .. honestly im young as well i just turned 19 . but i worked for what i have and im no where near stupid enough to do what they did . now joseph the driver suffers memory loss he can't even remember his parents but hey people don't use their brains when needed i would've gladly taken that STi from him if i knew he was up to dumb stuff

The parents aren't at fault for this happening yes they shoddy have let him have the keys without a license but it was his decision to get behind the wheel. And dude no one cares about your mommy and daddy paying for everything you have and all o your cars that you have had. Be a man and do it yourself.

the reason they left their house was to go smoke weed lol , they're not intelligent people

To me that sounds intelligent, they didn't want their parents to know they smoke dope so they went out of a smoke ride, the driver just thought he was colin mcrae in a video game and came into a turn way to hot and killed everyone but himself.
