Reverend's Hyper Blue WRX STI

In ca 91 is best you can get in petrol with out going to a race track or airport. Well if you don?t include e-85.

Is finding 93 a problem? I dont think I've ever been to a gas station without it....
It sure is in good ol' sunny CA -_-

I think you guys might need to take a look at the map on www.Find93.com

Major cities seem to have 93 Octane fuel pretty easily, unless you're in high altitude areas like Colorado. However, in my travels away from home (Nebraska) it's been tricky to find 93 Octane fuel. FlexFuel is appealing to me because it will make traveling easier and I would be able to run E85 and get even more performance when I can find it.

Well my "Higgins Blue" STi is about to take the trip of a lifetime. 22 hours of driving are all that stand between me and the mountain roads of New England. I've managed to plan our family vacation (I have family in NH and MA) the week before the New England Forest Rally. I'll drive up to New Hampshire, spend time with them in the mountains, and then stick around to watch rally cars blast through the twisty turny backroads between Maine and New Hampshire.

I've managed to get a few more things done to the STi before the journey. A modification I should've added from Day 1 is this IAG Air Oil Separator. Got that hooked up to keep my oil where it should be! Had a few puffs of blue smoke coming through before that had me worried, but the blow-by has been taken care of and the car is running better than ever. I also made a few interior tweaks with the Hyper Blue added to the Shift Knob, some SRT USA cupholder pads, a coin holder in my fusebox, and some better interior lighting.

I've been driving my '06 Baja Turbo more often but it's mostly to "save" miles on the STI for this massive trip. I don't know what I'm worried about, as I'm gonna buy the thing off lease in October anyways so the miles really won't matter. There's no way I'm giving this thing up to anyone else. Three years has taught me that this car is mine. ... and probably David Higgins, too

Oh, and I blew the dust off the profile and such here. https://www.igotasti.com/vBforum/vbrides.php?do=viewride&rideid=25#.WzLWgdVKiUk

You got hell of a trip ahead of you!

Also, I need to see some close up shots of that shift knob!!!!! What in the?!?! I just looked through the journal and you had a black shift knob before!!!

How is the Baja?! If it's bone stock, give a one paragraph summary/review of the wrx pickup truck!

Where in Maine and NH? I have lots of ties to those parts, but I'm stuck in Texas for the time being :(

It's pretty simple. Disassemble the shift knob, sand off the color (I did this to a WRX knob, not the fancy red STI one), paint your own color in, reassemble and enjoy! I personally like the feel of the stock shift knob. Every time I try to switch I keep going back to it. Must be something wrong with me.

As for the Baja, it's pretty much stock but I've done a lot to fix it and get it running. Previous owner had trashed and neglected it. Shot suspension, no brakes, interior mildew and dirt everywhere, torn upholstery, and leaks up the wazoo. All that and a fresh shortblock / rebuild took me about 6 months to get sorted out right again. The short list of mods is a 1" Lift, Primitive Skidplates all around, Method Wheels (as usual), and some All Terrain Tires.

New England Forest Rally is based out of Newry, ME. Stages run as far west as Gorham, NH and as far north as Errol, NH.

I saved the shift knob picture because that looks really good. Props to you.

Take some more pictures of the Baja when you get a chance!

Yeah, I've had two GC8s. The first one was a rust-bucket that I put a ton of work into and just got fed up with battling rust so I sold it. The second one was super clean and was great until the Turbo Baja came up for sale, so I sold it to a good friend so I could get the Baja. Didn't see much of a reason for having two AWD Sedan/Coupe Racecar things. I needed something to do work with and the Baja was just the ticket. Still wish I had the GC8, but it's in good hands.

Billetworkz is making a run of Series.HyperBlue numbered plates. We figured out which "1 of 700" our Hyper Blues are and did a group buy in the Hyper Blue Owners Group on Facebook to get these made. Can't wait to get mine!

Mine is 044/700

When I added a ViS Racing carbon fiber hood to my 2016 WRX STI, the first thing I knew I'd need to do was build something to channel air properly from the intake to the intercooler. Well, after making it by with a hacked-up plastic shroud from my stock hood, it's time to make something a little more... robust.

It's too difficult to build something off the hood, as there's hardly anything for something like this to attach to underneath. I've taken a page out of Bucky Lasek's STI and started building a custom shroud that attaches to the intercooler itself.

A few more things to adjust, then it's gonna get ceramic coated and get a fitted rubber gasket around the edges to seal it up nicely. Pretty pleased with the progress and fitment so far.

Might even be able to reproduce these when we get all the measurements right. Not sure how it'll fit with other aftermarket hoods.

Wow, that's neat, man!! How does testing forego in order to see the difference it makes?

Has anyone ever ceramic coated a TMIC? Is that feasible? Would that even work?
