GD Betsy 04 WRX swapped STi

:sti:

The start of my first journal. I bought my first STi in late August-September 2012. Although it wasn't any ordinary STi. It was a WRX on the VIN with a full STi swap in her. Interior, exterior, drivetrain, block, rear diff, brembos, door cards, carpet, center console, and STi gauge cluster. I found an ad on nasioc.com about the history of the car and found out it was actually for sale. The guy lived in Maryland, as I am in Buffalo, NY. After a little conversation the cars stats were SOLID. She had a lot of meticulous mods done to her visually, performance wise, and suspension. The guy really took care of her. I noticed when i first saw the car the tires were mounted meticulously. The yellow dot of the sidewall of the tire means the heaviest spot in the tire. They were lined up with the valve stems and the Rota Grids 18x9.5 with properly stretched 235's looks sexy as F*** !sold them! The awesome thing about all the work done is that he had a bible thick folder full of receipts for me to look through. There were not shortcuts taken.

When i bought the car it had

95,600 miles on the original body
55,000 miles on the drivetrain components (trans, rear diff, axles, hubs) brembos refurbished with new seals
5,000 miles on new block, turbo, and fuel setup
His block spun a bearing because it had a WRX dipstick inside an STI oil pan!?!

Also downgrade the turbo to 20g instead of this amrt60 it will spool much quicker and get more torque!

LOL yeah, just had a storm come in last night, only got a few inches though. no biggy. enough for a drift session! haha

Are you ever gonna track this monster?

I want to see it in action and maybe get a ride (if the track is close enough!)

Otherwise you'll just have to get a gopro!

I thought of trying out an autocross, but never had the right timing with work, but next summer ill try to get it in! Im in buffalo and we have an autocross event here at ralph wilson stadium in orchard park, ny. I will have to get a gopro for sure, and im in the process of a rebuild right now, spun bearing/ringland failure...

Recommendations:

Replace ACL with King
Replace MAHLE with WEISCO or MANLEY

Why would you choose these brands for recommendations? What about Cosworth bearings. I would perfer to choose Manley rods as well. Thanks for the input

lmao. but thanks for the education! Ill need to track down why i was burning so much oil as well, thats what caused my bearings to go.

Update: motor was pulled out on 3/31/13 with my buddy rob. we did it on a weekend, and took out time. gosh i miss her. heres some pics!

Car is now at Performance Auto Solutions, someone near them should go check out the car for me!

How did u like rt tuning

The previous owner had the car tuned there, I honestly don't know if my tune had a factor when my motor popped. I was running lean at WOT, detonation=spun bearing. So I'm not happy with them.

If they tune lean, then yes. These cars don't like lean. And by that I mean most tuners have no clue what the real afr these cars like is -- frankly they need to go to classes -- I'll admit I plan on going to the EFI University classes because of just the material from EFI101.

this ^ i want to go to a high performance school like that!

An update for everyone. the car spun a bearing last year, due to an incorrect dipstick in the car. There was a WRX dipstick in. With a hybrid motor, sti shortblock, sti oil pan, and aftermarket pick up. the WRX dipstick is 3/4'' longer than the sti's therefore was reading higher than what the actual oil was in the motor. so it starved itself. thank you previous owner. cost me over 7k. but an update for today. the car is happy, and rebuilt to stock bore with drop in manley pistons, with the same built heads and supporting mods. break in is done @ 1/27/14 protune time? yes :)
