exhaust question !!!!!!

So i just purchased a used Invida DP and a HKS CF exhaust and i was talking to a friend and he mentioned something about an up-pipe.. will the down pipe bolt straight up to the mid pipe of the exhaust ? .im new to the car scene and have had my WRX for about 3 months and am beginning to build it and am just looking for some help..Thanks !

Up pipe goes from header to the turbo (turbo sits on the up pipe) down pipe hooks up to the back of the turbo down to the mid pipe and it is a direct bolt on. Make sure you also replace the gaskets when changing your exhaust.
