Flatout 5700 vs Flatout R2

Flatout Suspension

On Vacation
People often ask "how much is the 5700 for my car? How about the R2?" And I can only say, "well those are two VERY different suspensions"...Besides one being a street version and one being an all out rally suspension; they say pictures are worth 1000 words, so...

Here the R2 on the right is monsterous compared to the 5700 on the left. Note how much more bump travel is available on the R2 (7.75" total stroke vs 5.25").

Lower mounts...on the left is the basic aluminum mount which is nice and light weight and works for street to light duty rallycrossing. On the right (it's the prototype, don't beat me up) you can see the triple bracing on the steel lower mount. It's heavy and takes the abuse of stage rally without breaking a sweat. The 30* brace provides good support along the mounting tabs.

Top plates, the 5700 on the left is 7mm thick and has camber provisions. The R2 uses a 12mm thick solid pillowball mount. Camber plates are a bad idea on rally suspensions. A hard landing can abruptly give negative camber reducing your contact patch.

So there you have it.
