Reverse lamp switch

the switch mounts on the transmission....so I put it here....

MY reverse lamp swtich went from intermittantly working to never working.....so I am going to replace mine, I picked up the part yesterday.

I looked at the trans diagram adn the orientation of the switch, my question is, can I get to it from inside the vehicle by coming top down via removing the center console? It looks like it mounts directly behind the shifter socket.

Do you have to lift the car and come at it from underneath and behind the trans?

Can you see the switch from inside the car? Otherwise it looks like you can only get to it from underneath.

So the FSM says to drop the tranny. I call BS.
If I can see it I can get to it.
Will post further when i get it done.

Yeah they do put it in a tricky spot but as you say, if you can see it, with the right tool and rubber wrists, you can get at it.
