1M I heard "beats" the M3 in every test. It does everything "better" but sloppier. If your getting m3 performance for less by the same company with a smaller car. That's a Win in my eyes.

Yes but a BMW 1 series does not.... They have a shoddier quality than any Acura or Lexus I have seen.... What you are paying for with the 1 Series is that little plastic and acrylic badge on the front that says BMW... Hell you can get a bass M3 for $60k. If you really want something German then why not a C63 AMG which start in the low $50k area and have more power than either an M3 or 1M? Heck that is right in the price range of the Nissan GT-R, one of the best handling, riding and accelerating cars for under $100k. What BMW is doing with the 1 series is ripping people off.. plain and simple... There cars have loads of mechanical problems due to poor build quality. The same thing can be seen in Mercedes of recent. Ever since the mid 90s Mercedes have become very un-reliable.... My suggestion, if you have $60k just burning a hole in your pocket that you need to get rid of on a fast two seater car, pick up a used 911 turbo that still has a warranty on it... Most Porsche 911's are well maintained and cared for rather well. No one need ever know that you bought it used...

Ah didn't realized that, I was never a fan of BMWs. Only one I like is the E46 or the classics(80s). Nor do i like audi's other then the r8. Porsches are fucking sexy.

It was close to 60k with the options I wanted. I like the idea of a 1M and may have to keep it in mind for when I hit ballet status and grow a garage of cars.

I agree with vermont that you pay a hefty price tag for BMW badges. I have a Mini (BMW) cooper s and I love it, my wife has a Mini Clubman and she loves it, we will be getting a mini countryman in a few years and I am sure we will love it too. The BMW 1 series is overpriced by a lot in my book for a compact 2 door car. I don't think their build quality is poor, I love both of our minis and they are doing great (other than the recall for mini s bursting into flames).

P.S. not sure what I was ranting for but just wanted to express my feelings towards MINI vs. BMW.
