Hey everyone,
I figured I would jump on yet another forum, as I am always making connections with other suby guys. This thread will be dedicated to my 2005 STi, but lets start with a little history..
I am from Vermont, and currently live in southeast Georgia. My past car of 7 years was a 2005 Subaru 2.5RS that I purchased new. I had always wanted a wrx, however when I went to buy the RS, (I was 19 at the time) the payments were a little out of my range, and the insurance was way out of my range. Over the course of 7 years, the price on 02-05 WRXs dropped significantly, and all my friends and their friends were scooping up WRXs left and right, and I was over here with my trusty but not so fast RS.
The RS really did treat me well, I racked up just under 150k miles in 7 years, drive from vermont to florida and back each season (school) for 4 years, as far north as Montreal, west to chicago, down through kentucky, tennessee, etc. 2 motors, 2 clutches, and a lot of blood sweat and tears went into it.
It all came to an end in August 2011, I was sitting in traffic at a light. Two lanes, left left has to turn left, right lane must go straight. Light turns green, car in front of me (in left lane) realizes they wanted to go straight, slams on brakes to look over shoulder to right to see if they could get over. Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention, and was assuming they were going left. So I rear ended them. My fault, but i didn't cause it if that makes sense.
I searched around for cars for awhile, really wanted to get another suby, as at this point, i was pretty confident working on them. I knew i definately wanted to step it up to a turbo. From talking to most of my friends and aquaintences with subys everyone said the torque of the 2.5 vs the 2.0 was a night and day difference, so i started my quest for an 06-07 wrx or 04-05 STi. After getting some insurance quotes and searching around, I finally found a super clean Aspen White STI local to me. Talked to the owner a bit, took it for a test drive, talked some numbers, and drove away with it the next few days.
