Lancer locksmith help

this is a recurring problem. Even my local mechanic has given up on this old Lancer. But I love it too much to rip it apart. The door just doesn?t open. Sometimes even the key gets stuck. Should I have it looked at by a locksmith?

That or just replace the lock and mechanism.
