4453 Was incognito yesterday due to a trip to Kentucky. On my way on I65 South, about 25 miles from my destination. 6am and traffic comes to a grinding halt. 3 lanes just packed right with cars, so I had no choice but to shut down and just sleep it off.
2 hours rolls around still no movement in traffic. Several fire trucks and ambulances raced past on the shoulder. Clearly it's an accident of some sort. By this time daylight is starting to come about, most people are getting fed up with sitting. So a lot of folks did 3 point turns and drove the opposite direction on the shoulder to a access road that allowed you to turn back onto I65 North.
After watching a bunch of cars do this, I decided to get out stretch my legs and see if I could see anything that was going on.
The traffic was endless for miles and miles and miles and miles, completely unreal, and it was starting to become a free for all.
That's when I had the opportunity and available space for me to make my own 3 point and do what everyone else was doing, so I hopped in the car and drove back to that access road.
Once on I65 North heading back to an exit to take side back roads to get around the effected area I saw this, miles and miles and miles and miles of packed in traffic.

Long story shortened.
I later found out that this massive traffic pile up was due to a accident that was just straight out of something like final destination.
6 people lost their lives. A family traveling from Wisconsin was hit by a tractor trailer that lost control, their Van caught fire and all 6 burned alive because they were trapped inside. Single handedly the worst accident I've been near or heard about in my life. And I've seen a lot of accidents, I was a Volunteer Firefighter during my high school days and several subsequent years after that.
Truly tragic and sad, my their entire family rest in peace and their surviving family members have my deepest condolences, so sad.
