Tanabe supra exhaust for sti???

Hey I bought my 2008 sti about a week ago...I'm doing little safety mods that help with detonation and what not but today I looked under my car and it looked clean but I did notice that the cat back exhaust was all rusted up because the car is from New Jersey....so today I started thinking and my supra came with a 3" tanabe exhaust and it's sitting in my garage not being used and i said maybe this will work .....I called my mechanic and he said he could cut it and reweld it to make it fit....just considering this because any decent exhaust is close to 1000.00 bucks

Also ive never been a fan of expensive exhausts since it's just piping anyways let me know what you think
