Cleaning the Throttle Body

What do I need to use to clean the Stock throttle body? And how often should you clean it , and for all you knowledgable STI people, how does it get that dirty? Cause there is an awful lot of black stuff in there.....

I use Valvoline carb and throttle body cleaner. When it looks dirty clean it.

Awesome due to the fact that i didn't get a response in my time window for going to get the supplies needed i ended up purchasing just that . I just got finished and the difference is nice and very noticeable... I should have taken pictures of what it looked like prior to cleaning it , IT WAS NASTY.... so for all other noobs out there such as myself , keep that thing clean......
