Clear Coat Question

Phil we had a customers car come in for a cleaning and it has some damage from bird droppings. After the car was washed you could see where the bird crap was etched into the clear coat.

What's the best thing to do for this [MENTION=115]DetailersDomain[/MENTION]?

When etching has occurred depending on the severity we have wet sanded with 3000 grit and then began rejuvenation with multiple stages of buffing.

I use lake country orange, red and black pads. Orange being a light cutting, black a finessing and red being a finish. I haven't needed anything heavier than the orange with a good cut mix.
But I'm sure Phil has some magical item.

if its light water etching on glass believe it or not you can use a buffing pad and orbital polisher and Auto Finesse Tough Prep on the glass it will take them down a bit.

If its stubborn you can believe it or not use a bit of polish and steel wool #0000

As for the pads and polish we need what do we get? Red right now we use Sonax wax.

for the subaru use the sonax paint cleaner as the last step before your sealant or wax.

trust me on this one.

so compound and then paint cleaner.

yes we do especially on subies due the the quality of the paint ; )

Hmmm interesting. They used it on my car and it seemed to shine way better than when i did it with my claybar. Ill have to look into it more.
