Elusive boost leak

Yeah I will try to uninstall the tune oe it and see where the boost is at. I ordered a stock BPV and it should be here Monday. There is absolutely no oil in the intercooler, throttle body, or manifold...I was told by cobb it's constantly trying to make 17 psi but because it can't it is targeting a higher boost level to achieve 17 pounds. (22 psi boost target) So my turbo is really overworking itself, and if you think about it the air charge is going to be even hotter because of how fast the turbo has to spin to try and make that...not good.And I can hear the leak while under boost. it's coming from the BPV. I've tested just my intake manifold with the boost leak tester and it held 23psi perfectly.when I checkd the intercooler it was all coming out the BPV at around 7-8psi as stated above. So I don't think its the tune or AP. It's mechanical for sure. But for the sake of it, I'll try it! Thanks!

I Put on the new BPV and picked up about a pound of boost. The most I've hit now is 15.5psi only in 3rd and 4th gear does it get that high. 1st and 2nd it goes to 13ish. Im just going to take it to the local Subaru shop, I'm out of ideas.

Cobb OTS map stage one is about 16.5 +\- one psi target, iirc? Not sure if it's limited in the first two gears? Somone can confirm or check the notes on the map.
Can you post a log for us?

on my AP it says target is 17.0 Psi for the cobb stage 1 AEM ACN map.
so maybe I should just get a protune so i can get the 17 Psi in 1st and 2nd? ill wait for my down pipe before i get it protuned.

ill go take some data logs right now, and hopefully I can get them up tonight. As for videos, I could use my phone, but I don't think you will be able to hear the sound i'm hearing when I drive it. something is still leaking when I hit about 6 PSI and is only audible in 5 and 6th gear with the radio off.
i now think the BPV vacuum/boost control line isn't doing its job and is allowing the BPV to slightly open under boost.

would it be bad if I plugged the BPV dump tube for a couple pulls to see if it holds the boost? I know I know, the air pressurized air will slam back to the turbo and isn't good. But how bad could it be once or twice?

This log isn't really very useful for determining a leak. For that you require a wide band AFR parameter. At first glance this just looks like low waste gate duty to me. I would try the High Waste Gate OTS map and see if that does the trick. Also the log should be a pull in 4th gear.

Also what altitude are you at right now, and is there an EBCS installed or is it stock?

I would think that the sound you are hearing now in 5th and 6th gear is the turbo laboring to produce boost for the loads that are being commanded. You should only go WOT in 5th and 6th gear if you are already in high RPM's as a result of running through the gears. Otherwise you are lugging the engine and that is not good.

The pull is in 4th gear.
It doesn't have an EBCS, it's stock and I'm at sea level.
when I'm driving on the freeway, and I go to pass somebody, I drop it in fifth, give it about 60-70% throttle in intelligent mode. It's not like I'm going up a hill in 6th in sport sharp demanding high boost with high load. I know it's not good, so I don't do it.

I sent some some data logs to cobb a couple weeks ago, watching the same monitors I have listed above. He told me a few of them are showing I have a significant boost leak somewhere.

I agree with everybody else, just replace all your boost related fittings with fresh T-clamps and new silicon hoses. You might get lucky and fix the problem this way, especially if it was only just a crack in one of your old rubber hoses. I always had leaks on the IC TB if that helps. Also, check that you are not leaking at your gaskets. That would be a problem for sure

These are the logging parameters as @HolyCrapItsFast suggested to me when I was having issues years back. Try some normal driving around town and on the highway. Then a short pull in 4th gear. @09subisti

What we're looking for is fuel being dumped at massive amounts, corrections swinging wildly. Front a/f sensor going lean/rich when it shouldn't be all relative to load, what the maf is seeing and what your manifold pressure is -/+.

Leaks can be hard to find but a massive one should be pretty evident.

As suggest before, spraying a throttle body cleaner, maf cleaner or the like, around couplings and hoses while engine is running can sometimes be better. Listen for engine rpm changes and plug your ap in monitoring engine rpm to back up the fluctuations, if they occur.
Sometimes the leaks can be sucked closed under vacuum and blown open under boost.

This is a tedious process so press on and throw everything at it.
Another thing is many people don't reach target boost on ots maps for whatever reason. The maps are generic at sometimes not right for everyone.
