boost leak maybe?

so this has happened before and it all of a sudden fixed itself the last time but its come back.. it feels to me like a boost leak. i can hear the turbo spool but the car does not pull like it normally does..

unfortunately i dont have any gauges in the car to tell you for sure if its a leak or not.

i checked the hoses and such but couldnt find any visible signs of a leak. someone suggested spraying ether( brakleen) on the hoses while the car is running and the idle will rise if there is a leak.

they also suggested checking the recirculating valve but im not sure how to check that without just replacing it. (which might not be a bad idea anyway)\

any help is greatly appreciated. i do not like driving the car like this but i have no choice.

Holy can advise on what parameters to monitor. I'd imagine he'd like to see a log.

At the very least, you can monitor boost pressure during a couple runs and it see if you are hitting your boost target.

You can use the acessport to see your boost psi.

You can select boost target and make a few runs. Write down your peak target and then make more runs monitoring boost. You don't have to try to watch it while driving, it'll store the highest value in the field at the bottom of the screen.

Boost target is what the ECU is trying to acheive. No matter how it's running, the target should pretty much be the same; unless I'm wrong...anybody else? Because I am a little tarded at times.

The bottom line is you need to get it into a shop that can do a boost leak test. Other than that it is all a guess.

Just spraying carb cleaner around doesn't always work because the leak could manifest only during boost. A log would be helpful but there is no guaranty that it will show a problem. You would be interested in logging fuel trims for both AF Correction and AF Learned, some turbo parameters such as the ones batmobile suggested, knock parameters, injector duty, RMP, Load, Throttle, AF sensor ratio.

No matter what you should make an appointment to have a boost leak test. and make sure they do a real boost leak test under pressure. not a smoke test

I just talked to Warren on the phone and he mentioned boost or boost targets as high as 25 psi. He said he is on the stock turbo though. Am I crazy? I don't think that's really possible on the stock turbo and if it is, it's definitely not a good idea. He's going to make a few pulls after lunch and get more boost and target boost readings.

@IGOTASTi.COM @HolyCrapItsFast @Grinder34

that is what the accessport is telling me. the pull i did for boost read 12.3 as the peak. car was tuned by previous owner at EFI Logics in CT so i dont know exactly what is should be.

im going to make an appointment with them to go a proper boost leak test.
