A/C not working.

The last couple days have been super rainy and humid and I needed to clear the fog from my windshield, which failed because it appears that my A/C is not working. I did notice a very faint high frequency noise, maybe like a whine, when I hit the A/C button.

I've never had an A/C problem before and don't know where to start.

Any suggestions?

Check the freon pressure. Might be low.

I don't have a gauge. Due to the noise, Idk if its something wrong with the compressor/compressor clutch. I'm checking electrical right now.

If low on freon will make system goofy.

Just a half pd can make it all weird.

Electrical is good. Verified good operation of the A/C relay and fans came on as well.

I hear you, JJ. But I don't have a gauge here. I'll get one tomorrow. What if I need a recharge. Should I just go to a shop?
The electrical was easy to check and rule out.

Yep. Anyone should be able to gauge it and fill it.

Depends on how much you need. We charge $50 plus Freon cost.

Cool. Thanks, JJ.

Btw, what are the specifics of the gauge I'd need if I were to check it myself? I might pick one up tomorrow at a parts store.
What should the normal pressure be?

The gauge we have isn't cheap.

Do you see the cap on the system? Unscrew it and take a screw driver and push the pin. See if there's any freon in there.

 Okay. Right now there's an angry, white faced hornet flying around in the garage. So I'm inside for now.
It's the biggest one I've ever seen. I thought it was a cicada killer at first.

I think they sell a recharge kit. Might be worth checking into if you wanna DIY?

I thought about that, but was under the impression that those are shit. Have you guys tried them before?
