It's not. It's still in ~112 pieces. But I figured I'd update the build list to reflect the changes being made while they are fresh in my mind.

Finally, after far too long away from this project, I got back on it again and was able to get the heads and a couple other things removed.

Joe is going to take the heads, clean them up, deck them, check tolerances, port and polish and install my new cams. Meanwhile, I'm going to finish stripping down the old and building up the new block.

I'm no expert, but I thought everything looked pretty good inside.
@Eagleye, you wanted an update on the build. Here it is!

Now, I believe we also need an update on the Regal!!! How long has it been since you got it (I just looked to find the old post and it's been 2.5 years!!!!!!!)? Have you done any modifications to it whatsoever? Give us an update! Power, comfort, fuel economy, etc.!!!!

Yep, about 2.5 years. No modifications. I haven't had the time or money to warrant modding a daily driver. Plus, it has more than enough giddy up for around here. I was doing triple digits on I94 today, coming back from coyote hunting. The highway is where that engine and transmission really shine.

Fuel economy is pretty shitty. The vast majority of my driving is city conditions and I have a heavy right foot, so I usually get a combined 20-21mpg, especially in the winter when I am using remote start a lot, to warm it up in the mornings.

Strict highway driving usually nets somewhere around 27-31, but those days are rare outside of hunting season.

It's really quiet and luxurious inside for being a Buick I only paid $17.6k for.

I just rolled over 30k miles a week or so ago.

Must be nice to have all of the creature comforts.

What about visual modifications that you were pondering about?

"I think I want to plasti-dip the wheels and maaaybe the faux chrome trim around the windows. Black it out a little bit."

Meh. I just don't have the time, money and motivation to screw with it. Too many guns to buy, too many hours I need to spend on the engine build, too much homework and parenting to do. I'll probably leave it completely stock, as is. Maybe a K&N filter and that's it.

You're telling me you'd buy a K&N filter over ammo!? :fuji:

Sure, if it saves me a little bit of money on gasoline, which can then be applied to future ammo sales. Gotta look at the big picture, rookie.

I suppose this is the halfway point in this build. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.

First addition: JDM STi 12mm High-Flow Oil Pump...and two boring case plugs.

Is that still the stock oil pickup! Get that outta here!

 Funny you mention that, @Grinder34. I just hung up the phone with Jordan at @Defined Performance, after ordering a new Moroso Oil Pickup tube.

I cleaned up the factory tube very nicely and it looks good enough to be reinstalled, but some color variation (most likely due to heat stress) and other peoples' oil starvation horror stories made me too paranoid to go ahead with it.

Should have the Moroso tube in a day or two.
