I swear my car hates me. Its been running great for the past month after I replaced the faulty cam sensor then yesterday the car died at a stop light on the way to work. It started up fine and I was able to finish the drive. Then on the way home from work it died again at a stop light. This time starting the car was as difficult as a cold start with E85 (engine was warm). It would crank ruble a bit crank then repeate. It was almost like there was too much fuel as a few times it would back fire after cranking. I eventually was able to get it to start and run just fine after feathering the gas while it was cranking (which confuses me even more as that should add fuel). Afterwards It idled a bit low but otherwise ran fine (I also re-flashed the tune while trying to get the car to start.)
I'm borrowing a car for the rest of the week so won't be able to see if the issue comes back until the weekend. In the mean time does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on?
Update:
The car died on the dyno at COBB today while idling between pulls. This time it threw the code P0340 for the passenger side cam sensor. I replaced the driver side last month after getting a P0345 code. I find it highly unlikely that both sensor went bad within one month... Which is leading me to believe its a wiring issue. The car is also not controlling boost at all. I'm thinking and hoping that its a bad vacuum line going to the waste gate.
Monday I will do the following:
-look over entire wiring harness
-remove passenger AVCS banjo bolt to see if it has the filter that can create issues
-replace intake filter (not related but its been 2 years)
-replace wastegate vacuum hose if needed.
-install custom rubber bumpers on areas where the stainless steal fuel lines are rubbing (I'm glad Neil at COBB pointed this out or else I'd have a lot of breather hoses to replace from the steel lines sawing through)
I'm also ordering a new cam sensor for the passenger side to eliminate the .000001% chance that this is the issue.
